Higgs LLP’s experience in helping people after an acquired brain injury has been recognised by a leading charity.
Andy Shaw, a personal injury partner at the Brierley Hill-based firm, has been listed as a trusted solicitor by Headway, the brain injury association.
The latest listing is an acknowledgement of Higgs’ expertise in representing claimants with acquired brain injury claims.
Andy said: “We are proud to be included in the Headway solicitors listings, which seeks to give confidence and clarity to people who require professional advice after a brain injury.
“A key aspect of this is offering a service which goes well beyond obtaining compensation for our clients. We have a philosophy of building great client relationships, dealing with the challenges that they face and achieving the best outcome through rehabilitation.
“In many cases, the relationships we forge continue well beyond settlement of the claim.
“We have achieved a listing in the Headway directory for around 20 years, which is something we can be really proud of.”
In the listing, Higgs is praised for being able to offer a wide range of services to those who have suffered a brain injury.
This includes being able to provide advice on appointing a professional to make financial and welfare decisions following a claim for individuals who lack the mental capacity to do so themselves.
Higgs can also act as a Professional Deputy/Controller of Affairs to make financial and welfare decisions, advise on the investment of damages, uses Case Managers to establish personal care support schemes and provide home visits.
Andy is a member of both the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Andy added: “Brain injuries are amongst the most devastating of all injuries. Whilst relatively minor head injuries can cause far-reaching effects, the most severe brain injuries are sudden, unexpected and often life-changing, affecting not only those unfortunate to be injured but also those closest to them.
“We understand what people go through, having represented many clients over the last 30 years whose lives have been turned upside down following traumatic brain injury.”
