A long-standing client of Higgs LLP has landed a prestigious house building award.
David Billingham, director of Billingham & Kite, has received the NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award for his role as site manager of the company’s Hagley development Pearmain Garden, which has 24 luxury properties.
Higgs’ experienced residential property team has been heavily involved in the development, including acting for the company in the purchase of the land comprising 10 separate property transactions, communal area ownership matters, plot sales and infrastructure advice.
The NHBC is the UK’s leading new homes warranty and insurance provider and its Pride in the Job Awards celebrate site managers who have achieved the very highest standards in house building across the UK.
Higgs LLP has provided legal advice to Billingham & Kite for more than four decades and David is one of just 443 site managers from a field of more than 8,000 to receive the Pride in the Job Award.
David said: “I’m incredibly honoured to have received the Pride in the Job Award.
“I won the award previously in 2004 and they are very much sought after and coveted. The award is testament to the hard work of the entire team.
“Our business celebrates its 70th anniversary next year and we pride ourselves on building luxury properties and providing dream homes.
“More than 1,000 Billingham & Kite homes have been built and we incorporate many traditional crafts and techniques alongside the advancements of technology and energy saving specifications.
“Higgs LLP has been our legal partner of choice for most of those years and it speaks volumes that we have never felt the need to look elsewhere.
“We are delighted with the service we receive and there is a huge amount of trust between us.”
Gurvinder Kehel, Senior Associate in the Higgs Residential Property team, said the firm has a strong relationship with Billingham & Kite.
Gurvinder said: “I’m really pleased for David to win this award, which is richly deserved for all of his hard work in making this development what it is.
“I have had the pleasure of assisting Billingham & Kite on this site over the last four years.
“I set up a scheme to dispose of plots and a management scheme thereafter to deal with ownership and management of communal areas.
“I have also dealt with the site set up and handled all plot sales to open market purchasers, as well as the sale of affordable units to a housing association.
“The wider Higgs team was involved in assisting with all infrastructure agreements around roads and sewers.
“I have an excellent working relationship with David and I am collaborating with him on a number of other smaller sites at present involving both site acquisitions and onward sales of new plots.”
