Ellie Norton
Principal Associate - Family Law
"I am a family lawyer who specialises in financial matters arising from separation and divorce, as well as the preparation of cohabitation and nuptial agreements. I have experience dealing with high-net-worth cases involving substantial assets and complex legal issues”
I joined Higgs LLP as a trainee in September 2017.
I have considerable expertise in matters arising from relationship breakdown, to include divorce, separation and the resolution of financial issues. I also advise families and individuals regarding the protection of wealth with the preparation of bespoke cohabitation and nuptial agreements.
I am committed to achieving the best outcomes for my clients, and client service and care is at the core of what I do.
I take pride in adopting a constructive, sensible and solution-led approach to my cases, ensuring that I provide my clients with the support they need during what can be a very difficult and uncertain time.
I have advised many clients going through divorce and separation and have negotiated financial settlements involving all manner of assets, to include businesses, pensions, property portfolios, investments and trusts. I will always think creatively and try to find ways of resolving disputes amicably and cost effectively whenever possible.
I sit on both the regional YRes and Resolution West Midlands Committees, and I am proud to be part of a community of family justice professionals who strive to work with families and individuals to resolve their issues in a respectful and constructive way.
I am recognised as a key lawyer in the Legal 500.
I have been acknowledged for my legal work by being shortlisted as a finalist in the Women and Diversity in Law Awards 2023 in the category of Rising Star.
- I pride myself on the way that I conduct each case, and I will always strive to secure an outcome which enables my clients and their families to move on and to be positive about what their future looks like. The majority of my cases are resolved outside of court, and this is undoubtedly in the best interests of all involved.
- Relationship breakdown affects everyone in a variety of different ways, and I like to think that my tailored approach and level of expertise helps my clients get to a resolution as quickly and effectively as possible.
