Leading Midlands law firm Higgs LLP has helped pioneering health and beauty brand Weleda plan for the future by providing the legal framework for its expansion to new premises in Derbyshire.
Higgs advised Weleda on the lease transaction that will see the business move its warehousing and customer care team to new premises at Etiquette Park, located off the existing Manners Road Industrial Estate in Ilkeston.
The business, which specialises in natural health and wellbeing products including its famous Weleda Skin Food, hopes to move into the 23,793sq ft facility later in the year. The unit sits within a secure complex and includes warehouse space, offices, a service yard and car parking.
James Adams, Principal Associate in the Higgs LLP Commercial Property team, led on the lease transaction.
He said: “We’re delighted to have advised Weleda on this new expansion project. They were a fantastic team to work with and we hope that the new facility helps them to achieve their growth ambitions in the years to come.”
James was assisted by construction procurement expert Rachael Hobbis.
Higgs carried out legal due diligence on the property and negotiated the lease agreement on behalf of Weleda. The team also reviewed the adequacy of the suite of construction documents, including build contract, professional appointments and collateral warranties.
James added: “We advised on all legal aspects of the transaction and were pleased to conclude the deal in a smooth and efficient manner.”
Jayn Sterland, Managing Director of Weleda UK, praised Higgs LLP, commenting:
“We enjoyed working with Higgs on this exciting new project. Experts in their field, Higgs provided practical help and invaluable advice and made the whole process enjoyable.
“We are excited to be expanding our existing operations at Heanor Road with a new warehouse and office space at Etiquette Park.
“The new build will allow us to grow our business whilst remaining in the area where our established manufacturing site and Demeter-certified organic medicinal herb gardens are also based.
“The new facility will free up space for us at Heanor Road, to enable us to expand all our operations as we grow.”
The new Weleda site is one of two new warehouses at Etiquette Park being built by Clowes Developments.
