The Higgs corporate law team is celebrating after firstly being ranked as the only Band 1 firm in the recently published Chambers and Partners Review and then also being shortlisted in six categories in this year’s Insider Midlands Dealmaker Awards.
It is vying for Corporate Law Firm of the Year in the Dealmaker Awards, while Richard Griffiths, who heads up the corporate team, is one of only nine lawyers in contention for Corporate Lawyer of the Year.
The corporate team has enjoyed a hugely successful year on both the regional and international stage, advising on 126 deals worth in excess of £570 million pounds.
Two of Higgs’ deals are in the shortlist for International Deal of the Year: the sale of ACR Heating Products to Decisive Dividend and the sale of Quest Ingredients by Quest Nutra Pharma to Highlander Partners.
Two further deals are also shortlisted for Midmarket Deal of the Year: the sale of Telford-based Besblock Ltd to Leicestershire-headquartered Aggregate Industries and the management buyout of specialist production agency Star Live Group.
“This is an excellent result for Higgs’ corporate team and deserved recognition for what has been a hugely successful year. We’re thrilled to be shortlisted in so many categories among other first-class legal firms and teams that are doing outstanding work in the region.
“Huge congratulations to everyone shortlisted. We’re looking forward to the evening and hope we can take home some of the awards!”

The Midlands Dealmaker Awards take place on Thursday, September 14 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
"This year we set the judges a particularly challenging task," said Midlands Business Insider Kurt Jacobs.
"Even after the longlists had been whittled down to the most popular nominations, put forward by the Midlands' dealmaking community, the panel still had to decide from lists of up to 20 entrants to agree on the finalists and winners.
"However, that meant those making the final shortlists represent the very best that this region has to offer in dealmaking. And it means that those who step on the stage to receive an award at the dinner will know they are the very best in a very strong field."
