An experienced dealmaker and passionate advocate of business in the Black Country and wider Midlands has joined Higgs LLP’s thriving corporate law team.
Joel Nixon has been appointed as Partner at Higgs, making the move from Flint Bishop where he led the Birmingham corporate team. Prior to that Joel spent six years at Browne Jacobson.
He has significant experience in mergers, acquisitions, disposals, reorganisations and joint ventures across all markets, specialising in particular in health and social care and healthtech.
Joel, from Wolverhampton, has nurtured strong working relationships with professionals in the region, including corporate finance advisers, accountants and tax specialists, helping to achieve best results for his clients.
He said he was excited to be joining a firm with a strong record of delivering deals.
Higgs' busy corporate team has completed 53 non-confidential, notifiable deals so far in 2023, putting the firm second in the Midlands and 14th nationally for M&A activity in the recently released Experian MarketIQ rankings.
“Higgs has such a strong corporate team and I’m proud to be a part of it,” said Joel. “It is a young, forward-thinking and dynamic team and this felt absolutely like the right step in my career.
“Everyone in the team is slightly different and I believe I will bring something unique as well. We will all complement each other.
“Both within the firm and externally, Higgs is renowned for creating a real culture of togetherness. The team has a reputation of being hardworking and trustworthy and that’s so important in this area of law.
“Having spent countless years correcting people that I’m from Wolverhampton and not Birmingham, it will be nice to be part of a firm that is so proud of its Black Country roots, too!”
