Leading regional law firm Higgs LLP has finished the year in style by donating more than £11,000 to good causes in the West Midlands.
The firm has supported 22 groups in the area with £500 each from the Higgs’ Charitable Trust Fund from money raised by colleagues throughout the year.
The recipients were nominated by Higgs’ employees and included women’s support groups, a football club, hospices and charities that help people with illnesses and disabilities.
Tim Jones, Partner and head of the corporate social responsibility programme at Higgs, said: “We are immensely proud to have raised such a large amount to support so many good causes in our community.
“These are difficult times for charities and support groups as the financial problems continue. Support such as this is vital, particularly for smaller charities.
“Corporate social responsibility has been central to Higgs for many years. Our people enjoy getting involved in fundraising throughout the year and it’s important they get the opportunity to select the Charities we have supported …it just means so much more to them and to us .”
The bulk of the money was raised by Higgs’ annual summer six-a-side football tournament at Stourbridge Rugby Club. Other fundraisers included a ten-pin bowling competition.
All of the selected charities and groups were invited to Higgs’ headquarters in Brierley Hill this week to meet key members of the fundraising team and to hear about the great work done in 2022 and the plans for 2023.
