A leading West Midlands law firm completed a perfect strike for the Spinal Injuries Association by raising more than £8,000 for the charity in a special ten-pin bowling event.
Higgs LLP staged the fundraiser at Hollywood Bowl in Birmingham in aid of the charity which supports people who have sustained life-changing spinal cord injuries.
Higgs LLP is one of the Spinal Injuries Association’s (SIA) Trusted Legal Partners for the West Midlands region.
The ten-pin bowling event was attended by 18 teams, including SIA partners and stakeholders who work closely with Higgs’ personal injury and medical negligence departments.
Many of the teams were joined by a person who had sustained a serious spinal cord injury and had benefitted from the services provided by the SIA.
Andy Shaw, Partner and Head of Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence at Higgs LLP, said: “Since becoming legal partners of the SIA, we have formed an excellent relationship with the charity and we were delighted to host this event to raise vital funds and awareness.
“Our major trauma and clinical negligence teams are passionate about helping those affected by spinal cord injuries and helping to rebuild their lives, while also supporting the SIA’s outstanding work within the wider spinal cord injury community.
“Raising such a significant amount of money was extremely pleasing but we are also delighted to have raised awareness of the charity’s work by highlighting how spinal cord injured people are able to live a fulfilled life as possible by having them compete in the event.”
Brendan Fitzgerald, from the SIA, said: “Our heartfelt thanks go to Higgs LLP for an outstanding event which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended.
“Not only was a fantastic amount of money raised but it also offered a platform for those who have been affected by spinal cord injuries to demonstrate how they can rebuild their lives.
"A number of SIA members who participated hadn’t bowled since sustaining their injury but thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and have already spoken about returning to a bowling alley with their family and friends.
“Higgs LLP are fantastic supporters of the SIA and this demonstrates their commitment to making a real difference to our members and service users.”
