Katherine Cooke
Senior Associate - Employment Law
"I am an employment lawyer acting for both employees and employers in a variety of workplace disputes, day to day HR matters and litigation.”
I joined Higgs in December 2018, becoming a senior associate in 2021. Prior to joining Higgs, I trained and qualified at another large regional law firm, being admitted to the roll in 2013.
I have been advising on all contentious and non-contentious aspects of employment law for the past decade. Typically, I assist employer clients with day to day HR issues, including management of disciplinary and grievance hearings, redundancy processes, sickness absence management, TUPE issues, negotiated exits and data protection issues relating to employee data. I also draft and deliver training to employees on a variety of employment and data protection issues.
I am experienced in both bringing and defending employment tribunal litigation and ACAS Early Conciliation negotiations.
I also assist employees in raising grievances, negotiating exits and submitting data subject access requests and exercise of other data protection rights.
I am recognised as a key lawyer by the Legal 500.
