I work with families and owner-managed businesses. I enjoy developing long-term relationships and have supported businesses from start-up and through many periods of growth and transition.
I am passionate about spreading the word to owners about the critical importance of planning and governance for the long-term success of their businesses.
I was also the firm’s Managing Partner for almost two decades and aim to bring to clients real-life experience of ownership, management and succession planning within a successful business.
I have a keen interest in ensuring that as a firm we provide the best possible experience for our clients. I head our Service Champions group, with the aim to create an ever-evolving and unique Higgs approach to exceptional service. Together we are shaping our core principles, supported by bespoke training programmes to equip our people to provide consistent service excellence the Higgs way.
I am committed to promoting the success of the region and its businesses and sit as part of Dudley Business Champions and the Brierley Hill Town Board.
We work with businesses through every stage of their development. Even for start-up businesses, beginning the process of thinking about succession and the long-term vision for the company is an important exercise.
It’s vital business owners regularly review their constitutional documents and amend where necessary or they will be governed by a set of rules which are, in all likelihood, unsuitable for their requirements.
Our business succession planning service guides business owners through the entire process and may result in revised structures or an updated set of documents – including Articles of Association, Shareholders’ Agreements and Cross-Option Agreements – to shape the future direction of the company ownership and management.
The documents are an important output, but the most significant element is the discussions which take place with all relevant parties to reach a consensus. We facilitate honest and open conversations as the key to effective succession planning.
We guide businesses through an understanding of their current position and in our experience owners of businesses are often not aware what that is, and it may not be what they would expect or want.
Through early planning, we can implement changes to suit owners’ business, family and personal requirements and avoid unwanted surprises.
