Peter Gosling

I am a partner in and former head of the private client department. I joined Higgs in 1990 and have been a partner since 1998. 

I have over 30 years’ experience of all aspects of wealth and succession planning matters.  I act for many families and trusts, along with a number of high net worth individuals, many with owner managed businesses and agricultural interests. This includes advice on the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney and family investment companies. 

I have significant involvement in ongoing trusts and complex estates through longstanding relationships with clients and their families, and I regard that continuing connection with succeeding generations as my most important role.

As a director of the firm’s trust corporation, Higgs Trust Corporation Limited, and through appointments in a personal capacity, I act as executor, attorney, Court of Protection deputy and trustee. I am also a school governor and charity trustee.

I work closely with individuals in other departments of the firm and I also believe strongly in the importance of working with clients’ other professional advisers to ensure that clients receive the best holistic advice. 

I am a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors for the Elderly. I am a member and former chair of the STEP Birmingham branch committee and I also sit on the STEP England & Wales committee.
